Auction Sentry for Ebay

Auction Sentry
I bought Auction Sentry to help me bid on Ebay items about four years ago. I don't useĀ  Ebay as much as I used to, but I still use it occasionally and I still like using Auction Sentry.

This is not a paid review and I have no advertising or affiliate association with the makers of Auction Sentry. I just think it a fantastic tool, a great deal for the price, and the people behind the product offer fantastic support.

The software is advertised as an Ebay auction tracking, sniping, and bidding tool. I agree with that for the most part, but I prefer to leave out the word "sniping" as it tends to have a negative connotation.

The software is very easy to setup and use. Upgrades are free and you can have up to three copies running on different computers for the same low price. Four years ago I bought the $14.95 Standard Edition and have gotten many updates, upgraded my main desktop twice, and installed a copy on my laptop and have never been asked to provide another penny. How often can you say that about software?

We all know that nobody bids on an item on Ebay until the last few minutes, which is why using a tool like Auction Sentry is ideal. I can add all my "watched" items from Ebay with a click of a button, then I can choose my high bid amount and tell it how close to auction close I want my bid place, I usually choose somewhere around 30 seconds to allow for differences between my PC clock and Ebay's clock (though there are settings that will sync your PC with Ebay). This may seem like sniping to you, but to me it provides two great benefits. I don't have to try keeping any eye on Ebay when the auction for an item I want is about to end - I used to miss a lot of items because of this. And probably the most important benefit is that I never get caught up in the excitement of bidding wars. I just set the amount and walk away.

Personally, I never bid on anything on Ebay without using Auction Sentry.
